United Methodist Women (UMW) 

Purpose:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through Participation in the global ministries of the church.

UMW Sunday

May 4, 2008, was UMW Sunday at CrossRoads.  UMW President Nancy Jones led the service and the guest speaker was Nancy Kincaid, President of the MO Conference of UMW, who presented a message entitled "Evangellism Through Mission."  Their efforts are much appreciated, as well as those of all of the women who assisted in every aspect of the Worship Service.

UMW Awards

United Methodist Women Scholarship Awards

The completed application and all supporting documents must be submitted to the Church Office no later than June 15, 2008.  Three scholarships are available for presentation to three different grads.  Applications are also available at the information table, the Ambassador’s Desk, and the Church Office.  Please contact the church office at 331-5258 for more information.

The Scholarship Award Criteria:
•  Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, enrolled or about to be enrolled in a college or university.
•  Applicant must be a member of CrossRoads the United Methodist Church in Belton.
Supporting Documents Required:
•  A letter from one of the Applicant’s high school teachers describing the Applicant’s accomplishments, leadership abilities, extracurricular activities, and personality.
•  A letter of recommendation from a member of CrossRoads describing the Applicant’s participation in church activities and community service.
•  The Applicant is to attach a typewritten essay consisting of no less than two paragraphs and no more than two pages in length presenting career and academic goals, and the need to receive this scholarship.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

GUILD……………1:30 PM, 3rd Monday of month
                                  
The Guild originally formed to accommodate working women, but now consists of those who work outside the home and those who have retired. All ages attend and new members are welcome.  Programs are interesting and the fellowship is great. Items are donated to Spofford on a monthly basis.

JOY GROUP…………7:00 PM, 2nd Thursday of month
                                       
A group of women of various ages both married and single.  Most have children from infants to college to married.  A few are grandmothers.  Most all work outside the home.  JOY has excellent programs and completes worthwhile projects for the church and community and contributes to church and unit activites.  Meetings are held in member’s homes.

SUNSHINE CIRCLE…10:00 AM, 2nd Monday each month
                                         
The Sunshine Circle is a group of women started in January 1991 who prefer a daytime meeting.  Our purpose is worship, fellowship, and service.  Each member brings food items for West Central.  Dues are a quarter each meeting.  We also donate to the Festival of Sharing.

SEWING GROUP……10:00 AM, 1st Monday of month
                                               
The Sewing Group was organized on February 23, 1988.  They serve different tasks within the church besides sewing.  They welcome women of all ages to sew for charity projects such as lap robes for nursing homes, quilts for the needy, hats, scarves, and mittens for Christmas.

GIRL’S NIGHT OUT…6:30PM, 2nd Tuesday of month
                                       
These ladies meet the second Tuesday each month at 6:30 PM for a time of spriritual conversation, good food and chatter.  They meet at different area restaurants unless otherwise specified.
