Community Easter Egg Hunt

Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt was held on the CrossRoads grounds this year on March 15.  There were activities in the mulit-purpose room as well as games and fun prizes.  Over 150 children participated, along with many more parents!  Thanks to all who attended this fun event in spite of a chilly day!

Special Events Team Mission

Our Mission is to introduce the local community to Christ and CrossRoads through activities such as our Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Vacation Bible School, our Annual Trick or Treat Fun Fest, and the Annual Fall Craft Fair.  We have organized booths to represent CrossRoads at various community events such as the Fall Festival on Main Street and Community Days.  We meet on the second Monday of every month in Room #210 at the church to plan our events and enjoy a special time of fellowship with each other.  We welcome all volunteers who would be interested in joining us in spreading God's Word through these various activities.

Past Events at CrossRoads

Fall Craft Festival/Pancake Breakfast/Chili Luncheon  Our annual Fall Craft Festival was held November 3rd, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  There were craft booths, home-based business vendors, and children’s activities, including a moonwalk tent, popcorn, and face painting.  In addition, during the Craft Fair, we hosted a Pancake Breakfast from 9 am to 11 am and a Chili Dog Luncheon from 11 to 3.  The attendance at this event was excellent!  Thanks to all who donated crafts and funds and especially thanks to our vendors who participated this year.

Trick or Treat Fun Fest

Our Special Events Team hosted our annual Trick or Treat Fun Fest at 700 QuikTrip Way in Belton on October 27, 2007, from 11 am to 1 pmChildren age 12 and under were invited to participate and wore their Halloween costumes.  Among our children’s activities, we had a Moonwalk Tent, fun games such as Mummy bowling, Pin the Tail on the Black Cat, Wizard Ring Toss, and others, as well as many fun Craft projects the children assembled and took home with them.  We operated a Cake Walk every 15 minutes, with cookies for all participants, as well as cake or visors for the winners.  There was free candy and prizes at each station and free popcorn for all.  Our Haunted Hallway was a spooky place and enjoyed by many!

Report from 2007 VBS!

Hi there! Scoop here; your Belton VBS news reporter! Who knew VBS was going to be such a fun week? WHOOPEE!  I arrived at the Belton Crossroads UMC on Monday, July 30th, 2007 for the opening evening of VBS, with everyone eager to explore God and learn so much through fun and games. We had around 40 outstanding volunteers who made this experience possible with their various talents. They sure did help with the total of 53 kids who participated this year. Without you all, my editor wouldn’t have liked my report. So thank you all for making me feel so welcomed!

First, I met Skylar… the scampering, skimmering, scholarly sky squirrel, who assisted in teaching us a new lesson every day. He taught us our most important words, the Flight Plans of the day, which were to Follow, Trust, Listen, Repent and to Serve. Each day, I had realized that my walk with God needed a little help. Even at the end of VBS, I have tried my best to continue to apply what has been instructed and to follow our Savior and Lord more closely!

Secondly, I met the cooks. They were all so kind to make us tasty meals each night and I want to thank them for all the goodies they filled our bellies with!  Even snack time was great! Remember making hot air balloons out of muffins and marshmallows? MMM-MMM GOOD! And who could forget the snow cones? That was definitely a treat, just like the prior years and hopefully the years to come!

Most of all, the Sky Scouts were by far the life of the week! There were so many creative crafts I saw being made, recreation activities that made me tuckered out just watching, and fantastic songs to sing! I still catch myself singing those songs… all the time! And wasn’t story time magnificent this year? We listened to biblical characters like Abraham, Joseph, Mary and Peter. We even had a real man in the Armor of God who gave us a visit! The Sky Scouts raised a ton of money, $210.87 to be exact, for the Mission project of food for the hungry in Missouri!

Overall, VBS was a huge success! The sounds of the children’s “LIFT OFF!!!” were one of the most memorable things! So, a thank you to all who were so delightfully kind to a reporter such as me! I sure did enjoy you all!

God Bless!!!
